I was listing to a clip of Dolly Parton talk about the difference in whishes and dreams. She is so stinking adorable. My grandparents on my dad's side loved her. If she was on TV they were watching her. I remember when they went to Dollywood and showed us pictures and they were so excited to tell us all about it.
Being in my "mid-life crisis" stage of life, I tend to look back on all my dreams. I thought I was going to be a painter like Bob Ross, then I spilled paint on my Mom's new carpet and...let's just say, I knew that was not going to come true. Then I was going to be a viola player and going to Carnegie Hall. That dream went away after I got my letter from Texas Tech and was rejected. I had road block after road block in life that took me in different directions.
I may have changed paths, but I see I am where I need to be. I see why life brought me to this point in my life, where I can have experiences to relate to others through my failures. Now I have tools to inspire others and share my positivity (even though the title of this isn't positive).
We started a nonprofit last year to inspire. We are fixing up the old theatre in Post Texas to serve the community to influence the next generation. To bring the arts to a small town. If my dreams all came true when I was younger, I wouldn't be sitting here with my cup of coffee on this laptop talking about this. If I had become a famous acrylic painter I wouldn't have discovered watercolor and got to met so many of my wonderful friends.
Just remember, when life doesn't always give you what you want. That doesn't mean you need to quit. Life gives you experiences that are like colors and a closed door, gives you a chance to start a new page. Keep creating your life, because you never know what is out there. Everyone has something amazing to share with the world and it isn't fair if you keep it to yourself.
These are a few of my thoughts for today and I hope they inspire you.
